- Preheat oven to 190 C. Lightly grease a 12 cup muffin tin tray with butter, or oil of your choosing.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Add any bran in sieve to bowl. Add sugar, poppy seeds, apple, and dates. Mix well.
- Lightly whisk egg and milk in a bowl. Whisk in butter.
- Pour egg mixture into flour mixture. Stir gently, using a metal spoon, about 16 times, until combined.
- Spoon mixture into muffin cups, dividing equally. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until a warm skewer inserted in centre comes out clean. Remove muffins from tin; cool on a wire cooling rack.
