The dust that collects on his back’
A hand it may be, picking leaves from a tree,
Or a mower for grass in his track.
The elephant’s nose is a pump and a hose
To suck up a drink from a pool’
It’s a good sprinkler, too, for a bath or shampoo
So truly, a flexible tool.
The elephant’s nose is a club for his foes,
With a stroke a man it can kill.
But if you’re his friend, he may use his trunks end
To pat with kind, gentle skill.
