“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
I have never written anything like this before, but I just felt led to share what this verse has come to mean to me as a person in my walk with the Lord. I guess this is particularly for those who have struggled for years with seemingly insurmountable problems and sorrows it looks like to us that the temptations that come with those sorrows and problems are unavoidable and completely too much for our already over burdened souls. I pray, that whoever reads this, will be blessed by the fact that God loves you, and that there are others struggling with the same thing.
We try to tell God that “this is too much, I can’t handle it!” But God in his goodness and mercy says “but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be temped above that ye are able….” I will give you a way of escape from these temptations. Have faith, dear one, and believe on me. “…For “I” (he) have said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5
We have to keep coming back to God and laying our temptations and the fact that we don’t know what to do at his feet and trust him, and begging him to give us the grace we need to deal with the temptations and problems we face. He delights in giving to those that ask? “ Ask; and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and the door shall be opened unto you.” Matthew 7:7
Many times we give ourselves the excuse that “it is too hard” but we can’t use that excuse because God has promised that if we ask we shall receive and that he will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. “For the Lord God is a sun and a shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalms 84:11
