Through his tears the boy replied, "The soldiers came this morning to take Peter away. He started to cry and beg Mama to let him stay with her. She went with him, Dad." The father stumbled to his bed and shook with sobs. Peter's mother had seen her son's fear and kneeling down on the floor with him had taken him into her arms and said "It will be alright, I will go with you, son. Everything will be alright." And she went with her little boy to the gas chambers because of her love for her beautiful little boy who was too afraid to go alone.
There was a man and his parents, his wife and his two sons in a concentration camp in Germany. For awhile his parents were able to work but eventually they became to sick and weak. The Germans took them off to the gas chambers. The weeks went by and the father came home one day to find the littlest boy and his wife were gone. The eldest was huddled in the corner crying. The father looked for his wife and son and then asked his eldest where they were.

“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:38,39) I recently read a story of a military standard bearer who, in the time of battle when his company was charging up a hill against an enemy position, was going ahead of his company carrying the flag. Enemy fire was very effective as the enemy was strongly entrenched and the company was being shot up badly. The officer in charge deemed the battle lost and that he should pull back his men, so he called to the standard bearer ordering him to bring back the flag. The standard bearer called back over his shoulder as he continued to charge on into the enemy position, “I won’t bring back the flag; you bring up your men!” According to the story, the beaten and battered army rallied to the standard and the result was victory. We are living in an age of apostasy; however, this is not a time to draw back. “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Psalm 107:2). We are under direct orders from the Lord. Matthew 28:19,20 says “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Notice the command includes “even unto the end of the world.” We are not to change the plan because “perilous times” have come. God’s plan must remain in effect until the “end.” The end hasn’t come yet so, let’s keep on keeping on. I found this very uplifting, challenging, and altogether pretty good. I love Tozer's clear style and his ability to tell you whats what without appearing to be overly judgmental or nasty. I would definitely suggest that everyone read this. It is definitely a very useful, and helpful article.
Written by A. W. Tozer East of the Jordan in the territory of Moab, Moses began to expound this law, saying: "The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, "You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates. See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore He would give to your fathers - to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - and to their descendants after them" (Deuteronomy 1:5-8). In the Old Testament, the enemy that threatened Israel the most was the dictatorship of the customary. Israel became accustomed to walking around in circles and was blissfully content to stay by the safety of the mountain for a while. To put it another way, it was the psychology of the usual. God finally broke into the rut they were in and said, "You have been here long enough. It is time for you to move on." To put Israel's experience into perspective for our benefit today, we must see that the mountain represents a spiritual experience for a spiritual state of affairs. Israel's problem was that they had given up hope of ever getting the land God had promised them. They had become satisfied with going in circles and camping in nice, comfortable places. They had come under the spell of the psychology of the routine. It kept them where they were and prevented them from getting the riches God had promised them. I wrote this when I was 17, I think, and man was I proud of myself. This still holds true, but by God's grace, I am striving for the humility to admit that God is the only reason I am even on the right path today.
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 I have never written anything like this before, but I just felt led to share what this verse has come to mean to me as a person in my walk with the Lord. I guess this is particularly for those who have struggled for years with seemingly insurmountable problems and sorrows it looks like to us that the temptations that come with those sorrows and problems are unavoidable and completely too much for our already over burdened souls. I pray, that whoever reads this, will be blessed by the fact that God loves you, and that there are others struggling with the same thing. We try to tell God that “this is too much, I can’t handle it!” But God in his goodness and mercy says “but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be temped above that ye are able….” I will give you a way of escape from these temptations. Have faith, dear one, and believe on me. “…For “I” (he) have said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5 We have to keep coming back to God and laying our temptations and the fact that we don’t know what to do at his feet and trust him, and begging him to give us the grace we need to deal with the temptations and problems we face. He delights in giving to those that ask? “ Ask; and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and the door shall be opened unto you.” Matthew 7:7 Many times we give ourselves the excuse that “it is too hard” but we can’t use that excuse because God has promised that if we ask we shall receive and that he will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. “For the Lord God is a sun and a shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalms 84:11 |
